booking policy:

Anyone inquiring about a date not yet booked by Classic Disc Jockeys automatically retains a 30-day tentative hold on that date. If another party inquires about the same date within the 30-day hold period and the second party wants to secure the date, the first party will be given 48 hours to decide to forfeit or secure the date with a contract and deposit.

Dates are secured and legally bound with a signed contract and 30% non-refundable deposit.

Always call or email to obtain confirmation on an open date before sending a contract and deposit.

meetings:

Carl usually has two meetings with his clients. The first meeting is arranged after the client has received their information packet and upon looking it over feels that they would like to set a date to meet with Carl to discuss preliminary details of the event.

The second meeting takes place approximately 2-8 weeks before the event. At this meeting the event agenda as well as the music is discussed in detail. Clients are encouraged to have the CDJ questionnaire filled out completely and their request list, as well as their "do not play" list compiled for the second meeting. For convenience, e-mail and faxes can be utilized in fine tuning the details for the event.

As a courtesy to their current clients Classic Disc Jockeys does not invite potential clients to visit the disc jockey while working another event. Potential clients are encouraged to contact the references of Classic Disc Jockeys. Most clients find that contacting the references, along with the face to face meeting with the disc jockey, allows them to gather information to make an informed decision.

If you are looking for the most inexpensive DJ, you will find there are many other DJs who offer discount prices. Unfortunately reduced prices most always mean you are buying compromised professionalism. If you are searching for great mix of music presented tastefully from an experienced 20+ year professional rather than simply shopping for the lowest rate, you should consider making an investment in Classic Disc Jockeys. Since Carl only books around 30 events per year the demand is high for his services and his fees reflect that demand. Many of the industry professionals consider Carl the best in his field.

Many of his clients have been guests or attendants at other events where a less experienced or budget DJ was used and a few hundred dollars saved. That minor savings, relative to the total cost of the event, later resulted in regret over one decision. Unfortunately these parties were diminished because of the DJ's "over the top" actions, weak music programming skills or something as simple as improper name pronunciation or poor grammar during announcements. These events became memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Fees are based upon three criteria: 1. the time of year, 2. the amount of time Carl's services are requested and 3. the event venue (location, load-in dynamics, etc).

Fees for a 4 to 5 hour event range from $1000 to $1600.

You do not pay for normal set up and break down time, which is usually 1 hour before and after the event. Breaks are not taken during the event and the music is continuous.

Carl will arrive approximately 1 hour before his scheduled start time to set up. An early set up fee will be charged if it is deemed necessary that the set up should be earlier than 1 hour prior to scheduled start time. (fee is $100 to $150 per hour).

A travel fee will be added for locations more than 50 miles outside the Baltimore metropolitan area. (fee varies according to distance traveled)

If it is necessary to move sound equipment during an event or provide music at multiple locations an additional set up fee will be required. Clients will be informed of the fee in advance. The fee is $200 for each additional sound system or each time the equipment is moved.

Carl will not use signs or banners to promote his services at your event.
Carl will not announce his or his company's name at your event.
Carl will not lay business cards out at your event.
Carl will not tell jokes over the mic at your event.
Carl will not play music you have specifically asked him not to play.
Carl does not smoke and will not start smoking at your event.
Carl will not drink alcohol at your event.

Phone calls to 410.879.0990 are taken and returned between the hours of 9AM and 8PM Monday through Thursday and Fridays until 12 noon. Calls are usually not returned on the weekends, since events are being performed. Please feel free to leave a detailed message, should your call be received by voice mail.
